What is a hobby and why is it good for you?

A hobby is a way to enjoy your leisure time by doing a pleasurable activity.  Having a hobby is also called a hobby.  These days, unfortunately, with the stress and rhythm of life that we lead...  There are many people who do not have hobbies to put personal interests aside.  In fact, taking care of someone's mental health requires a hobby.  Because it separates you from your daily routine and allows you to do what you really want to do.

It's really important to prioritize even 20 minutes a day so you can be aware of the time you have available and do what makes you feel good at any given moment.  To take good care of yourself, it's important to enjoy a connection with yourself by taking up a hobby.

What is a hobby and why is it good for you?

Don't waste your free time!

Having a hobby is an investment in your mental health, not a waste of time!  Instead, people think it's not busy wasting time.  But people really waste their time creating the illusion of a job.  Facebook, Instagram, email (more times than necessary), watching TV series…  what's your poison?  These daily activities may lead you to believe that you are busy or using your time, but in reality you are wasting it.

Wake up every morning and stop thinking about social networks.  When this happens, you will waste a great and precious time in your life.  Unfortunately, that time never comes back, but from now on, when you realize how hobbies can change your life, you'll be better able to arrange your free moments.  Better!

Remember that always being busy or working doesn't increase your "status", it steals the essential time you should invest in yourself.  When you start prioritizing your time, you can enjoy a hobby... or two!

Why You Have Hobbies in Your Life One or Two! :

You can be in a flow state ("flow")

Enjoying a hobby encourages you to enter a state of flux.  In other words, you enjoy doing things so much that the time goes by so quickly that you don't even notice.  Don't let passive leisure (television, internet, etc.) be above your usual interests.  You need active leisure from time to time.

If you've ever spent time flying, playing sports, or doing other activities that you find absorbing and challenging, you've entered a state of flow.  Time passes, self-awareness fades, and you become completely immersed in the activity in question.  Hobbies, especially skills-expanding ones, foster this desirable and increasingly elusive state.

Stress reduction

Imagine you are having an extremely difficult day at work where your boss is criticizing you.  Coming home, laying on the couch, and turning on the TV is the perfect plan for a moment of distraction, but…  This will not help your damaged ego.

Now imagine that after work you will be doing an activity you really enjoy, like climbing or walking your favorite trail.  These types of activities are more than passive distractions... they remind you that you care, that you are alive, that you love distraction by doing things you love.  You can be an employee, you can be an athlete or an artist.  It's a way to strengthen your identity, put stress aside and enjoy life.

You force yourself to take a mental break while still being productive for yourself

Relaxation is out of the question in this busy society, but in fact it is absolutely necessary.  If you have a hobby, taking a break will give you a sense of purpose.  Even taking this kind of break can make you feel productive.  If you're doing an activity, you won't feel like you're doing nothing.  A hobby makes sense and has a purpose.

You can do something while having fun.  Also, the more you do your hobby, the more likely you are to learn about it, which will increase your satisfaction with your life.  Maybe you want to learn a new language or learn to play the piano.  The more involved you are in your hobby, the more you will learn and enjoy!

You will have new challenges and experiences

Work-related challenges often come with stress and pressure to be the best at what you do.  Having a hobby allows you to enjoy the process of learning new things without the discouragement of not being perfect the first time.  Your hobbies may offer different types of challenges, at least like the ones you're used to.

You will get to know yourself better

You can amaze yourself with your hobbies.  For example, you thought you couldn't climb, but when you start going to the mountains with your climbing group, you realize how much you love this type of activity and you get better.  You start on an easy level climbing wall and you climb a mountain previously thought impossible for you to achieve.

If you try something, you may discover that you really love doing it, and that you have a certain talent for making things better little by little with practice and experience.  Hobbies can help you discover what you do well (or badly).  And you might even surprise yourself with knowing yourself a little better!

Have you realized the importance of hobbies from now on?  You will improve your quality of life!
